Who should buy which.

The Race Master Automatic Red: A buyer who wants a distinctive red racing-inspired automatic with a 24-hour display and a standard 20 mm strap width. If your priority is a quiet dial that blends into a rotation, this bright red racing design is not the one we would choose.

The PISTA SILVER: A buyer who wants a substantial silver-dial racing design, a recognizable automatic movement, sapphire and a strap with period character. Choose another watch if you need a working stopwatch chronograph, a compact 38–40 mm case or an integrated steel bracelet.

Before you order.

The 13.4 mm case wears taller than its 39 mm diameter suggests. Ferro uses domed Hesalite rather than sapphire, and the 5 ATM rating with a leather strap makes this a dry-day choice rather than a swimming watch.

At 42 mm across and 48 mm lug-to-lug, this is a larger watch than many vintage racing designs suggest. The 13.1 mm case and 22 mm leather strap also make it less discreet than a dress watch. Ferro lists 100 m / 10 ATM for the case, but the supplied leather strap is not our choice for swimming; follow Ferro’s care guidance and use a suitable strap if water exposure is part of your routine.
